- Liver disease;
- Elevated levels of triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood;
- A history of stroke or blood clot formation;
- If you have a history of cataracts;
- With a course of radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
Taking nolvados may increase your risk of uterine cancer, stroke, or a blood clot in the lung, which can be fatal. Talk with your doctor about your specific risks in taking nolvados. This medicine can be dangerous for the unborn child. Warn your doctor if you become pregnant. Stop use of the drug and see your doctor if you become pregnant. Use a non-hormonal of birth control (such as a condom or a diaphragm and spermicide) while you are using nolvados and for 2 months after your treatment ends. It is not known how nolvados affects breast milk or how it might harm a nursing baby. This medication can also decrease the production of breast milk. Tamoxifen side effects:
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: urticaria; labored breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using nolvados and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
- Stroke symptoms, numbness of half of the body;
- Sharp pain in the head, vision problems, confusion, difficulty speaking or with balance;
- Chest pain, difficulty breathing or the release of blood;
- Pain or swelling in one or each leg;
- Infrequent discharge or bleeding from the ducts;
- Menstrual changes;
- Strange sensations in the belt area;
- Flu symptoms, fever;
- Body aches, chills;
- Pale skin, simple bruising or bleeding;
- New lumps in the chest; or
- Gastric pain, lowering of body temperature, refusal to eat,
- Darkening of urine, stool of unusual color,
- Сhanges in eye and skin color
Less serious side effects may include:
- Heat under the skin;
- Joint pain, bone pain, or tumors;
- Rash or changes in the skin;
- Swelling of the limbs;
- Itching or dryness in the inguinal zone;
- Depression or changeable mood, feeling of weakness;
- Sharp weight loss;
- Gag reflexes, nausea;
- Dry cough. Sore throat;
- Sexual dysfunction;
- Dizziness, pain in the head;
- Thinness or brittle hair.
There can be some unexpected effects. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect
